The primary purpose of the study is to determine the nature of the relationship between public narrative and traumatic stress and to better understand if a change in public narrative can result in improved outcomes for individuals and communities experiencing traumatic stress.
The Public Narrative and Traumatic Stress Study is being conducted by Mary O'Brien McAdaragh, Doctoral Candidate at the University of Minnesota. This study will be used to complete doctoral requirements.
Study description: A comparative case study with three populations, individuals that identify as having experienced sexual assault while serving in the United States Military, sex trafficking, or prostitution / sex trading. The study employs a survey and interview to learn more about individual experiences and perspectives. Study participants can complete the survey and interview virtually or in-person, and will receive up to $45 for their time to complete research activities. Study participation is expected to take approximately 1.5 hours.
